ABELMOSCHUS ESCULENTUS (Hibiscus esculentus) - Okra
This annual herbaceous shrub originated in Africa where it was cultivated for many generations. The fruit, large green erect pod, is eaten cooked and the seeds are toasted, ground and used as a substitute for coffee. There are many selections. See HIBISCUS ESCULENTUS.
